Robbery at Mc Drive-Thru to Feed a Homeless Man in Draguignan: "It's a Set-Up," Says Police

He appears, all smiles, in front of McDonald's on a black scooter. Just before entering the takeout lane, the young man announces his intentions, facing the camera: "I'm taking someone's order and giving it to a homeless person."
He waits patiently behind a black unlicensed car before abruptly grabbing the food held out by an employee from the pickup window and fleeing with his partner, both on the same scooter.
A chase ensued with the unlicensed car through the streets of Draguignan, in violation of the Highway Code.
After hastily leaving the scooter, the young man ended up offering the order of two burgers and some fries to a man sitting on the steps of the Esplanade Theatre.
Intrigued, the Draguignan police station conducted an investigation to shed light on this affair.
"I started to have doubts when I saw the license plate and the face of the smallest scooter rider blurred. The video was edited," explains Commissioner Cédric Fèvre.
According to information obtained, "this is a set-up. The McDonald's manager was not aware of any theft and did not file a complaint, nor did the owner of the 'stolen' order."
Shared on May 3 by the RN MP for the 8th constituency of Var, Philippe Schreck, the edited video has been viewed 30,000 times and generated more than 200 comments on social networks.
He admits: "Whether it was staged or not, I don't know. But there is endangerment of other people's lives, traffic violations, promotion of crimes... If there is a staged fraud or violence against police officers, I would do the same thing again."
Law enforcement officials remind people that it is forbidden to ride two people on a scooter, that helmets are mandatory and that insurance must be up to date.
